2:01 pm: People have again shown confidence and trust in development and good governance, says Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu after the result.
1:41 pm: TDP candidate has won the Nandyal bypoll 96,185 votes, YSRCP is in the second position with 69,156 and Congress is in the third position lagging behind with a huge margin 1153 votes.
1:29 pm: TDP’s candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy has won the Nandyal bypolls with a huge margin of 27,456 votes. The results of the byelection are eveident of the fact that CM Chandrababu Naidu’s work speaks for himself, according to local website.
1:12 pm: At this juncture, TDP is leading with 91,439 and YSRCP has 65,446 votes. Congress seems to be nowhere near the race with only 975 votes.
12:54 pm: Surprisingly after the 16th round, YSCRP takes lead over TDP. With 654 votes YSCRP takes the lead in the 16th round though TDP is leading with 25,078 votes.
12:40 pm: Currently Telugu Desam Party is at 81,713 votes whereas YSRCP is at 55,666 votes. TDP candidate is leading over YSRCP with a margin of over 20,000 votes.
12:38 pm: According to Indian Express the reason why TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy can still lose the bypolls because his total poll campaign expenditure exceeding the limit set by the Election Commission.

12:19 pm: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy could still lose the Nandyal bye-election despite leading by over 20,000 votes after 12 rounds of counting, according to Indian Express.
12:17 am: According to the latest updates, TDP is at 65,081 whereas YSRCP is at 43,240.

11:30 am: Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal by-poll: TDP’s Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy leading over YSRCP with a margin of 19,706 votes in 10th round of counting.
11:09 am: As the counting began this morning, Reddy established a lead against his main rival Silpa Chandra Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress right from the first round.
11:00 am: TDP workers celebrate as the party candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy leads over YSRCP with a margin of 17,440 votes.

10:55 am: The by-election in the constituency was held following the death of sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy in March. According to the latest update TDP candidate is leading with over 13,000 votes.
10:51 am: First, rural votes is being counted and then the urban votes of Nandyal will be calculated.
10:50 am: LED screens had been arranged to show counting outside the counting centre. It has also been made compulsory to carry a pass allotted by the Election Commission to enter into counting centre.

8:20 AM: A high voter turnout of about 80 per cent was recorded on August 23 in the by-election to Nandyal Assembly constituency in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, where the ruling TDP and opposition YSR Congress (YSRC) are locked in a fierce battle.

8:15 AM: Heavy turnout of voters was witnessed in Nandyal rural and Gospadu mandals in the segment with women outnumbering men, sources said.
In Nandyal town, about 70 per cent polling was reported.
8:10 AM: Barring a face-off between supporters of the TDP and YSRC at a couple of places, the by-election passed off peacefully, a senior police official said.
The counting of votes will be taken up on August 28.

For the first time, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) was used in the by-election.
8:00 AM: VVPAT is a machine which dispenses a slip with the symbol of the party for which a person has voted for. The slip drops in a box but the voter cannot take it home.
7:55 AM: The by-election was held following the death of sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy in March. Reddy had won the seat in 2014 as YSR Congress candidate, but jumped over to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2016.
7:50 AM: Reddy’s nephew Brahmananda Reddy is now the TDP candidate, while the YSRC fielded former minister Silpa Chandra Mohan Reddy who switched sides to the opposition party just days ahead of the bypoll.

TDP’s Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy leading with a margin of 13,162 votes after 5th round of counting.The bypoll was necessitated due to the demise of sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy. The TDP has pinned hopes on Reddy’s nephew Brahmananda Reddy. While YSRC has fielded Mohan Reddy. Notably, TDP didn’t win the Nandyal seat in the 2004, 2009 and 2014 general elections. A total of 15 candidates, including Congress’ Gaddam Abdul Khadar, are in the fray for the seat. However, the principal fight is between the TDP and the YSRC candidates.
