PM Modi upon reaching Arunachal Pradesh addressed a public gathering in Itanagar after inaugurating a slew of projects worth Rs 55,600 crore in the Northeast. While delivering the speech, the PM criticised the Congress government, suggesting the BJP’s five-year achievements would have taken the Opposition two decades to accomplish.

“Today, I got the opportunity to be a part of all the Northeastern states in this festival of a developed Northeast. Our vision is that of ‘Ashta Lakshmi’ for the development of the Northeast. Our Northeast is becoming a strong link for trade and tourism with South Asia and East Asia”, said PM Modi.

He also highlighted Congress’s neglect of border villages, referring to them as the “last village.” Contrarily, he prioritized them through the Vibrant Village Programme, considering them the “first village.”

Modi emphasized that the BJP’s primary objective is to improve the quality of life for women in the northeastern states. The completion of the Sela tunnel, costing around Rs 825 crore, is a remarkable engineering achievement. It guarantees all-weather connectivity to Tawang through the Sela pass, enhancing transportation infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh. PM Modi laid the foundation stone in February 2019 which initiated this project.

The Prime Minister also spearheaded the groundwork for various road developments, environmental initiatives, tourism projects, and the enhancement of educational institutions. Additionally, the Prime Minister kickstarted about 1,100 projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission and inaugurated 170 telecom towers funded by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), enhancing connectivity to over 300 villages. Moreover, he distributed over 35,000 houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, amounting to ₹450 crores.
