The tech professional from Bengaluru, who was earlier reported missing by his wife, has been located by the Uttar Pradesh police at a mall in Noida. Vipin Gupta had changed his appearance by shaving his head. The police have said that an investigation in the case is still ongoing.

Earlier, Gupta’s wife, Sreeparna Dutta had posted an appeal on social media saying she suspected her husband had been kidnapped. Dutta stated that Vipin disappeared from Tatanagar, Kodigehalli, around 12:42 pm. He was last seen wearing a beige jacket and dark grey track pants while riding his green Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.

He had left without carrying any bags, and soon after his disappearance, Rs 1.8 lakh was withdrawn from his bank account. Besides this, his phone was turned off.

Now, Dutta has also confirmed that the techie has returned home.

“Vipin is back home but he is in a state of shock and trauma. Doctor has advised him to take rest and he will undergo therapy,” she wrote in a post on X.

According to a TOI report, the officers who met with Vipin at the mall asked him to return home, to which he objected strongly. It took several hours for the three officials to persuade him to fly back. However, the techie insisted that the police put him in prison rather than send him home to his wife.

“You put me in prison, I will live there…but I won’t return,” the techie was quoted as saying.
