A 34-year-old man was arrested by the Karnataka Police on Tuesday for allegedly raping and killing a four-year-old girl near Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The accused lured the girl, who was a distant relative, with the promise of getting her ice cream before raping and killing her on Saturday, according to a police officer, The Indian Express reported.

The incident came to light when the victim’s mother searched for the girl until Saturday evening. After checking with several people in the neighbourhood, she discovered that her daughter was last seen with the accused. When she called the accused over the phone, he evaded the questions and switched off his mobile phone.
The accused, identified as Irfan Khan, dumped her body on the roadside at Thippagondanahalli in the Magadi police station limits of Ramanagara district.

Police were informed who found her body on the roadside. After following CCTV footage and other technical leads, the police arrested the accused from Kalasipalya in Bengaluru, IE reported.
A police officer said the accused frequently visited the victim’s residence. He worked as a daily-wage labourer and had been previously arrestedin pickpocketing cases. The police booked him for abduction and murder. They also invoked charges under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
