Maharashtra will witness local body elections on Tuesday, December 2, with voting scheduled for 242 municipal councils and 46 nagar panchayats, marking the first phase of a three-tier process mandated by the Supreme Court.
Elections in at least 20 local bodies, including areas like Baramati, Lonavala, and Yavatmal districts, have been postponed to December 20 due to pending court cases on nominations and reservations.
Municipal corporations of Mumbai (BMC), Pune, Thane, and Nagpur will also not head to polls on December 2 and no dates have been officially set for their elections yet.
When will results be out and where can you check them?
The results will be declared on December 3. Results for areas where elections have been postponed will follow on December 21.
You can check the Maharashtra local body election results on the State Election Commission’s official websites: mahasec.maharashtra.gov.in and mahasecelec.in.
These portals will provide ward-wise, constituency-wise, and political party-wise results for municipal councils and nagar panchayats once counting of votes begin on December 3.
How to check the results?
Once you access the website, you can select filters like Local Body Type (e.g., Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayat), Division (e.g., Pune, Nagpur), District, Taluka, and specific Local Body.
You can then select options like – ‘Elected Candidates’, ‘Constituency Wise Election Result’, ‘Political Party Wise Result’, and ‘Poll Day Reports’.
First major election after Assembly polls
These polls mark the first major local elections since the 2024 assembly results, testing the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance against
the MVA opposition.
Of total seats, 3,492 are reserved for women, 895 for Scheduled Castes, 338 for Scheduled Tribes, and 1,821 for OBCs. A state-wide paid holiday on December 2 aims to boost turnout, with the model code of conduct in effect since November 4.
