Police have arrested 15 people for allegedly throwing stones at a Ganesh festival procession in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, officials said on Thursday.

The incident took place late on Tuesday night in the Pundaliknagar area, injuring three women and two men. The trouble began when members of one Ganesh mandal threw gulal (vermillion powder) on representatives of another mandal, sparking a quarrel, PTI reported.

Members of the first group allegedly pelted stones at the other mandal’s procession, according to a police statement.

Upon receiving the report, police and a State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) team arrived at the scene, arresting four individuals on the spot. A case was registered against them, along with 11 others who fled the scene.

Police later launched a search operation and arrested the remaining suspects.
