MP SIR update: The Election Commission is set to publish the draft electoral rolls for Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise being carried out across select states and Union Territories.

Earlier, the EC had revised the schedule for the SIR in Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, fixing January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. The decision was taken following requests from the respective Chief Electoral Officers, with the aim of ensuring a more accurate and updated voter database.

Why the Special Intensive Revision is being carried out?

The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls is a nationwide effort to clean and update voter lists. The exercise focuses on removing duplicate, fake, and ineligible entries, including names of deceased voters or those who have shifted residence. At the same time, it seeks to ensure that all eligible citizens are included, strengthening the credibility of the electoral process and ensuring free and fair elections.

The SIR is a door-to-door and document-based verification exercise conducted by the Election Commission of India. Through this process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) verify voter details on the ground, while citizens are encouraged to check and update their information.

How voters can check their name in the draft electoral roll

Once the draft electoral rolls are published on December 23, voters will be able to verify their details online. To check their status, citizens need to visit the official website voters.eci.gov.in and click on the option ‘Search your name in E-roll’ available on the top right of the homepage.

Voters can search using their EPIC number or personal details to view their entry in the draft electoral roll. The Election Commission has also advised new electors to submit Form 6, along with the required declaration, either through their Booth Level Officers or online via the ECINet app or website, for inclusion in the final rolls.

In addition, voters can also track the status of their SIR form submission online. By logging into the voters.eci.gov.in portal and selecting the option to fill or view the enumeration form, users can check whether their form has already been submitted. If the message confirming submission does not appear, a blank form will open automatically, indicating that the data has not yet been uploaded.
