Actor-politician Kamal Haasan on Wednesday said that his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MKM) he had not joined the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc and that “discussions were on”.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai after leading the 7th anniversary celebrations of his party, Haasan also said that he would form an alliance with anyone who “works for the nation selflessly”.

Asked if MNM will join the multi-party opposition INDIA bloc, he said, “I have already told, this is the time when you have to blur party politics and think about the nation. Anybody who thinks selflessly about the nation, my MNM will be part of it.”

He added that his party will not join hands with the ones doing “local feudal politics”.

The actor also said that MNM has not joined the INDIA bloc and that any “good news” in this regard will be communicated to the press. This comes in the backdrop of speculations that Haasan’s party was involved in alliance talks with Chief Minister M K Stalin-led DMK for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

In the last Lok Sabha elections, MNM failed to put up an impressive show, and the same happened in last Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as well.
