In a significant development in the Sheena Bora murder trial, the prosecution informed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court that the bones and remains allegedly belonging to Sheena Bora, recovered by police in Raigad, Maharashtra, are currently untraceable. This disclosure was made on Thursday during the testimony of a forensic expert from JJ Hospital in Byculla, Mumbai.

The court is in the process of recording the forensic expert’s deposition, who initially examined the bones recovered by Pen police in 2012 from the site where Sheena Bora’s charred body was allegedly buried. Sheena Bora, 24, was reportedly murdered in April 2012, though the case only came to light in 2015. Indrani Mukerjea, Sheena’s mother, stands as the prime accused in the murder.

Key evidence goes missing

Special Public Prosecutor CJ Nandode revealed that despite thorough searches, the articles (bones and remains) referred to by the forensic expert could not be located. Nandode further stated that the prosecution plans to continue the chief examination of the forensic witness without the physical evidence, given their untraceable status.

The CBI court has scheduled the next hearing for June 27 to continue recording evidence, following the defense’s lack of objection to the prosecution’s request to proceed without the missing articles.

The CBI court adjourned the matter to June 27 for further recording of evidence after defence advocates said they have no objection to prosecution’s request.
