Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday faced questions on the BJP’s charge that his aide assaulted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal, however, the AAP chief chose to keep mum on the issue.
Kejriwal was addressing a joint presser with Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav when he was asked questions about Swati Maliwal’s assault case. Akhilesh Yadav said, “There are other issues that are more important than this…”
As the AAP chief remained silent, his colleague Sanjay Singh took the mic and threw a counter.

“What about the tribal women paraded naked in Manipur and the sex assault allegations against BJP ally Prajwal Revanna,” questioned Sanjay Singh, an AAP MP.
“When our wrestler daughters were fighting for justice at Jantar Mantar, it was Swati Maliwal, the then Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, who went to support them and was dragged and beaten by the police,” Sanjay Singh said, listing what he said were examples of the ruling party’s silence on crimes against women.
“The Aam Aadmi Party is a family. The party has made its stance clear, and I want the Prime Minister and the BJP to respond to all the issues I have raised. Please don’t play political games on this,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday night, Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal personal assistant, was spotted with the AAP national Convenor and Sanjay Singh at the Lucknow airport, days after the party promised “strict action” against him.
AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP, Swati Maliwal, has reportedly alleged that a member of Arvind Kejriwal’s personal staff “assaulted’ her at the Chief Minister’s official residence.
Later at a press conference, Sanjay Singh told the media that Bibhav Kumar had “misbehaved” with Swati Maliwal at Kejriwal’s residence and that the chief minister would take strict action in the matter. The statement had come a day after Swati Maliwal had made a police call from the CM’s residence and also went to the Civil Lines police station.

The BJP has accused Kejriwal – released from jail last Friday to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls – of shielding his personal assistant.
The BJP also launched protests in Delhi demanding an FIR against Kejriwal’s aide and “justice for Swati Maliwal”.
Amid escalating BJP attacks, Sanjay Singh had said on Tuesday that the Chief Minister had taken note of the incident and would take action.
