Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Tuesday shared a video from an airplane showing the clear skies of Mumbai compared to the hazy view while landing in Delhi. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “Flew in from Mumbai today into Delhi and this is the difference. We need to do better.”
She urged people to ask the government to “prioritise the air we breathe.”
“For a minute keep your politics aside, who you voted for aside, whataboutery aside, farm fire vs fire crackers aside and ask yourself just one question.. don’t we need to do a lot more for a better, cleaner future not just for our children but our nation,” she wrote.
She further added, “Would it be too much to ask from governments (irrespective of which party in power) to prioritise the air we breathe? Do we ask questions about the silence of the environment ministers, our senior ministers in the cabinet?”

Delhi’s air quality dips to ‘severe’ levels
As of 8 am, the air quality in several parts of Delhi – including Wazirpur, Alipur, Bawana and Jahangirpuri – crossed the 400 mark. A thin layer of haze covered the city and the overall AQI stood at 310, falling in the ‘severe’ category.
Mumbai enjoys clear skies after showers
In contrast, Mumbai woke up to clear skies on Tuesday morning, after moderate showers the previous evening that cooled the city and reduced pollution levels. The India Meteorological Department predicted partly cloudy skies through the day with chances of light to moderate rain or isolated thunderstorms in some areas.
How netizens reacted to Chaturvedi’s post
Reacting to Chaturvedi’s post, netizens shared their views. One user wrote, “Totally agree with you. But both sides are to be blamed, Government for inaction and opposition for using this disaster to score political points instead of constructive criticism and suggestions. At least the Government is trying things like cloud seeding, etc.”
Another user commented, “Stubble burning and City construction dust are easily controllable, if govt. has the will. These two will reduce pollution by more than 75%. But they won’t do!!”
