Karnataka’s Minister for Electronics, IT/BT, Priyank Kharge, announced on Wednesday that the state will soon unveil a comprehensive space policy aimed at attracting investments, fostering innovation, and advancing cutting-edge space technology.
Speaking at the inauguration of the eighth edition of the Bengaluru Space Expo, Kharge emphasized the immense potential of the global space economy, currently valued at USD 630 billion and expected to grow to USD 1.8 trillion by 2035.
The event, organised by ISRO, INSPACe, NSIL, CII, and the Karnataka government, runs from September 19 to 20 at BIEC, Bengaluru, focusing on India’s space reforms and business opportunities.

Kharge also highlighted Bengaluru’s space tech startup Pixxel’s recent contract with NASA, showcasing the state’s evolving role from being home to ISRO to a hub for innovative space startups.
He stressed the importance of nurturing talent, noting that Karnataka is committed to ensuring a skilled workforce through partnerships with educational institutions and plans to set up a Centre of Excellence in space technology.
Karnataka’s focus, he said, goes beyond software, as the state is driving advancements in aerospace, defence, and space sector manufacturing.
