J&K Portfolio allocation: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor on Friday allocated portfolios to the newly inducted ministers in Chief Minister Omar Abdullah-led cabinet. An order to allocate the portfolios on the advice of the Chief Minister was issued by the LG.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, marking the first elected government in the union territory since the revocation of its special status in 2019. The Congress party, part of the pre-poll alliance with the National Conference, has opted not to take any ministerial roles in the new administration at this time. Abdullah previously served as chief minister from 2009 to 2014 when Jammu and Kashmir was a full-fledged state.

The order said any other /subjects not allocated to any of the ministers, shall remain with the chief minister.

Here’s list of portfolios allocated to ministers in Jammu and Kashmir:

1- Surinder Kumar Choudhary (Deputy Chief Minister) gets Public Works (R&B), Industries & Commerce, Mining, Labour & Employment and Skill Development.

2- Sakeena Masood (Itoo) Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare.

3- Javed Ahmed Rana Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs.

4- Javid Ahmad Dar Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election.

5- Satish Sharma Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports and ARI & Trainings.
