At least five suspected Pakistani militants were killed on Friday in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Battal sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, reports Indian Express.

According to official sources, the explosion occurred when one of the militants attempting to cross over from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) into India accidentally stepped on a landmine placed on the Indian side. The blast was triggered instantly, leading to the death of the infiltrators.

Sources further revealed that the militants were also carrying an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which detonated during the incident, causing additional damage.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, and further details are awaited as security forces continue to assess the area. Heightened security measures remain in place to prevent further infiltration attempts along the LoC.
