Two men from the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar–Virender Charan gang, who were reportedly planning to kill comedian Munawar Faruqi, were arrested after a gunfight on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road on Thursday, police said.

The suspects, identified as Rahul from Panipat and Sahil from Bhiwani in Haryana, were reportedly following orders from gangster Rohit Godara, who works with Goldy Brar and Virender Charan. Investigators said the men had even scouted Faruqi’s movements in Mumbai and Bengaluru before the attack.

According to ANI, both had scouted their targets in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Both injured men were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police have seized the firearms and the motorcycle used in the attack and are taking further legal action, the Delhi Police said.

How were the two gang members arrested?

Police received information that the shooters were near New Friends Colony. A trap was set up on Kalindi Kunj-Pushta Road, and at around 3 am, officers spotted a suspicious bike.

When they signaled the riders to stop, the criminals opened fire. Police returned fire, injuring both men in their legs. They were later admitted to the hospital for treatment. Firearms and the motorcycle used in the incident were seized at the scene.

History of attacks by the Goldy Brar gang

Criminals linked to Goldy Brar, who gained notoriety after the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, have repeatedly targeted celebrities.

Earlier this week, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a man accused of threatening comedian Kapil Sharma, who claimed to be part of the Goldy Brar–Rohit Godara gang.

On September 12, two shooters on a motorcycle opened fire outside actor Disha Patani’s house in Bareilly, with the gang claiming responsibility on social media.

In May, rapper Emiway Bantai filed a complaint in Mumbai after receiving a threat from someone claiming to be Goldy Brar, days after releasing a tribute to Moosewala.
