The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in many parts of India over the next few days. In its latest weather bulletin, the meteorological department said that isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next three days.
“Light to moderate rainfall at some places with isolated heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala during 09th-11th October and reduction thereafter,” the IMD said.
According to IMD, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also expected to witness light to moderate showers. “A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from 13th October, 2023,” the IMD said.
Southwest Monsoon completes withdrawal from Central India
Moreover, the Southwest Monsoon has completed its withdrawal from the remaining areas of Northwest India, as well as from the majority of Central India and Maharashtra, along with certain sections of East and North Peninsular India on October 9.
No significant weather events are expected in Central and West India over the next five days.
Region-wise weather predictions
In Northeast India, expect light to moderate rainfall in many areas with isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning highly likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, with a gradual reduction thereafter.
Moving to East India, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in numerous places, particularly in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim over the next two days, followed by a decrease in precipitation.
In South India, from October 9-11, there will be light to moderate rainfall in some areas, with isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning expected in Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala. After this period, a reduction in rainfall is anticipated.
In Northwest India, light rainfall is forecasted at certain places, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning likely in Kashmir-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on October 9-10 as well as on October 14-15.
