The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm alert with hail and heavy rain over multiple states including Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and south Rajasthan on Sunday. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the next two days. The Met office has advised fishermen not to venture into south Andaman Sea during the period.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over many parts of northwest, west and central India from Tuesday onwards. A fresh feeble western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from November 30.

A look at weather conditions across few states:-

  • Delhi: The national capital will witness partly cloudy sky on Sunday with shallow fog in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 25 and 12 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi settled at 25.6 and 10.3 degrees Celsius.
  • West Bengal and Sikkim: Kolkata will experience mainly clear sky today with maximum and minimum temperatures at 29 and 20 degrees Celsius respectively. The dry weather is most likely to prevail over Sikkim and all the districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
  • Tamil Nadu: The light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area today. In Chennai, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 30 and minimum temperature is likely to be around 24 degrees Celsius.
  •  Jammu and Kashmir: The dry weather will prevail over the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. In Srinagar, the sky will remain cloudy with maximum and minimum temperatures at 13 and 1 degrees Celsius respectively.
  • Himachal Pradesh: The sky will remain partly cloudy in Shimla, the state capital. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 18 and 10 degrees Celsius respectively. The weather will remain dry in the lower hills area while light rainfall is likely to isolate places in middle hill areas. The upper reaches will witness light rainfall accompanied with snowfall at isolated places.
