The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has launched a dedicated webpage to provide weather updates for the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela, IMD Director Manish Ranalkar announced on Friday. Speaking to ANI, Ranalkar said, “This special webpage will deliver weather updates every 15 minutes, along with twice-daily weather forecasts.”

He also mentioned that Mahakumbh has been declared a temporary district for the event. “We have installed three new Automated Weather Stations (AWS) in the Mahakumbh district, ensuring regular updates on the webpage every 15 minutes. Additionally, two digital displays will be set up in the district to provide real-time weather updates to attendees,” he added.

In related developments, the Mahakumbh camp saw the arrival of the Mahanirvani Akhara sadhus, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the damaru (a two-headed drum) and chants of Mahadev’s name. The Atal Akhara seers also made a grand entry into the camp, warmly received by police officials with garlands. Adorned in ashes, garlands, and riding horses, the seers carried the Akhara’s flags while drums heralded their arrival.

Acharya Vishwasanand Saraswati of the Atal Akhara urged people to attend the Mahakumbh, emphasizing the unity it fosters. “Everyone should come to the Kumbh Mela to experience this unity and strive to establish similar harmony in their own communities,” he said. Spiritual leader Jagadguru Narendracharyaji Maharaj, who participated in the 2019 Mahakumbh, commended the excellent arrangements for this year’s event.

The Mahakumbh, held once every 12 years, will take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26. Key bathing rituals, known as Shahi Snan (royal baths), are scheduled for January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami).
