The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday dismissed the petition filed by former state Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu seeking to quash the FIR registered against him in connection with the alleged Skill Development Corporation scam, reports The Indian Express.

The Andhra Pradesh CID will seek custody of Naidu for further interrogation in the special court for the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Vijayawada.

“Quash petition is dismissed.. We are seeking police custody,” Special Public Prosecutor Y N Vivekananda told news agency PTI.

The High Court did not accept Naidu’s counsel’s argument that the arrest under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act was invalid and said that the arrest and the remand were proper and that the case must be investigated.

Chandrababu Naidu’s remand extended for two days

Meanwhile, the ACB court on Friday extended the judicial custody by two days to Naidu, who is currently in jail in the alleged in Andhra Pradesh Skill Development scam. His judicial remand has been extended till September 24, reports PTI.

The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) police arrested him in an early morning operation on September 9. He was produced in the ACB Court, Vijayawada. A day later, he was sent to 14-day judicial custody till September 22.

On Friday, he was produced him before the ACB court judge through video conferencing from Rajahmundry jail.
