A case has been registered against a man who called up the office of Haji Ali Dargah Trust, claiming that a bomb had been placed there, a Mumbai police official said today.

A man, who identified himself as Pawan, made the call on Wednesday evening, prompting the trustees to alert the police, according to an official.

“The man also hurled abuses. A case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was filed at Tardeo police station. Efforts are on to nab the accused,” the official added.

As per the Indian Express, the police said that the caller had claimed that the land belonged to him and threatened to kill those who intervened.

“The caller threatened to shoot and kill those who tried to intervene…He even made some comments to hurt the sentiments of a community,” an officer said.

The Mumbai crime branch is now conducting a probe into the matter. “We will scrutinise the call data record of the phone numbers to identify the suspect and we will soon take him in our custody to inquire the reason for making a threat call to the trust,” an officer said.
