Two unidentified individuals on a motorbike fired four rounds outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area early Sunday morning. The shooters fled the scene thereafter, prompting the police to intensify security around Khan’s residence and commence a search for the perpetrators.
According to police, two persons fired four rounds outside the actor’s residence at around 5 am and fled from the spot.
Law enforcement agencies, including local police, crime branch personnel, and forensic experts, arrived at the site to gather evidence and initiate an investigation into the incident. Security measures were heightened, and CCTV footage from nearby cameras is being scrutinized to identify the attackers.
There has been no official confirmation regarding Khan’s presence at home during the shooting.
In March of the previous year, Khan received a threatening email at his office, leading to the registration of an FIR by the Mumbai Police against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, along with another individual, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The FIR was based on a complaint lodged with Bandra Police by one Prashant Gunjalkar, who according to police frequently visited the Bandra-based residence of Khan and ran an artist management company
The email, addressed to Khan’s associate Prashant Gunjalkar, referenced an interview with Bishnoi and warned of potential repercussions.
In September 2023, the Mumbai police conducted a reassessment of the security arrangements for Salman Khan and advised him to remain vigilant.
The precautionary measure came in response to threats made by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi had claimed responsibility for a shooting incident outside the residence of Punjabi singer-actor Gippy Grewal in Canada through a Facebook post.
“You consider Salman Khan a brother, but now it’s time for your ‘brother’ to come and save you. This message is also for Salman Khan – don’t be in the illusion that Dawood will save you; no one can save you. Your dramatic response to Sidhu Moose Wala’s death did not go unnoticed. We all know the kind of person he was and the criminal associations he had… You’ve now landed on our radar. Consider this a trailer; the full film will be released soon. Flee to any country you wish, but remember, death doesn’t require a visa; it comes uninvited,” Bishnoi had written.
In June 2022, an unidentified individual threatened Khan via a handwritten note.
