The Delhi High Court on Friday sent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam to judicial custody till October 27. Special Judge M K Nagpal sent Singh to jail after the probe agency produced him before the court on expiry of his custodial custody granted earlier.
During the brief hearing, the judge also directed Singh not to give any speech about unrelated matters inside the court.
The judge issued the direction after Singh claimed before the court that the ED didn’t work on his complaint against Adani.
Singh was referring to industrialist Gautam Adani, who is considered close to the ruling establishment at the Centre with which Singh’s AAP has been locked in a running feud.

“No unrelated matter. If you’ve to give speech about Adani and Modi, I’ll ask for your production through video conferencing from now onwards,” the judge said.
Earlier, the court agreed to list a plea filed by Singh, against his arrest in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy. The Rajya Sabha MP’s counsel had mentioned that proper grounds of arrest were not provided to him.
Singh’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody ended on Friday.
On October 10, a trial court remanded Singh, who was arrested earlier this month, into the custody of the Enforcement Directorate until October 13. The ED’s investigation into money laundering stems from the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) First Information Report (FIR).
Both the CBI and the ED alleged that irregularities took place during the modification of the Delhi Excise Policy for 2021–22, with undue favours allegedly being extended to licence holders. The ED conducted searches at Sanjay Singh’s residence after businessman Dinesh Arora, an accused in the case who later turned approver in both ED and CBI investigations, accused him.

The ED asserts that an employee of Dinesh Arora allegedly delivered Rs two crore to Sanjay Singh’s residence on two occasions, and the agency intends to confront the AAP leader with digital evidence.
The Delhi government initially implemented the excise policy on November 17, 2021, only to scrap it at the end of September 2022, amid allegations of corruption.
