A video of CNN journalist Cordelia Lynch reporting from Pakistan’s Muridke has elicited a strong response from Indian official on social media amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions. The video, shot outside the Marika mosque, one of the nine targets under India’s recent Operation Sindoor, shows Lynch stating that the site is “an area Indians alleged is the site of the terror group they allege was involved in the [Pahalgam attack]”. She also reported rising “anger and anxiety” among locals, who claimed the location was a religious and educational institution.

Former Intelligence Bureau Director Yashovardhan Jha Azad condemned the video, accusing the journalist of sympathising with terrorists. “Do you know Marika about a Maulana called Hafiz Sayeed? Just meet him and find out how many innocent lives he has taken…Have you read Christine Fair’s book on LeT? Please read that,” Azad posted, referencing the US-designated terrorist and his role in the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) network allegedly based in Muridke.

Meanwhile, top Indian military officials held a detailed press briefing on Sunday, revealing the precision and planning behind Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said India had conducted “careful scrutiny” of the targeted terror camps, including detailed study of layouts, configurations and surrounding terrains before launching the strikes. “We achieved total surprise and the strikes across those nine terror hubs left more than 100 terrorists killed, including high-value targets,” he said.

During the briefing, aerial images of several camps before and after the strikes were displayed, showcasing the damage inflicted on the terror infrastructure.

The briefing came a day after India and Pakistan agreed to halt all military actions across land, air and sea. This understanding was reached on May 10 following an initiation Pakistan DGMO, after four days of escalating drone and missile strikes.

Operation Sindoor, as detailed by Indian officials, aimed to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and was carried out with surgical precision. The operation also included retaliatory strikes against Pakistani offensives in the days that followed.
