The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids across various locations in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Monday, revealing a substantial cache of “unaccounted” cash allegedly associated with an aide of a state minister, according to official sources, PTI reported.
Sources within the ED reported the recovery of a huge amount of cash, estimated to be Rs 20 to 30 crore, during the search of properties linked to the house help of Sanjiv Lal, the personal secretary to Jharkhand’s Rural Development minister, Alamgir Alam, within the Virendra Ram case.

Visuals of the raid displayed bundles of currency notes scattered across a room suspected to belong to the domestic help of Alam’s private secretary, PTI reported.
ED sources indicated that the cash was in the process of being tallied to determine the precise sum.
This development comes on the heels of the arrest of Virendra K Ram, the chief engineer at the Jharkhand Rural Development Department, in February 2023, in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to alleged irregularities in the implementation of certain schemes.
