Attention Delhiites! Traffic will be affected in South Delhi today (May 24). The Delhi Police has made some special traffic arrangements to moderate traffic ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election polls in the city which is scheduled for tomorrow, May 25.
The Delhi Traffic Police shared the traffic advisory on Thursday informing commuters about alternate routes that can be taken.
“In view of Lok Sabha Elections-2024, traffic restrictions will be effective on 24.05.2024 Kindly follow the advisory.”, wrote the Delhi Traffic Police on X, formerly Twitter.
According to the DTP, on May 24 from 9 am to 5 pm, commuters may face traffic congestion due to the movement of many buses and other vehicles expected in relation to election duties.
The following routes were advised to be taken to ensure smooth traffic management and uninterrupted journey:
- Commuters coming from Sarai Kale Khan/MGM side towards NH-24 will go straight towards Akshardham flyover and will take a left turn to reach towards Pusta Road/ITO/Vikas Marg and then continue to their destinations.
- For commuters traveling to their destinations towards Delhi, coming from ITO/Pusta Road side will come upto Akshardham Flyover in front of Akshardham Temple and they will take U-Turn after crossing Akshardham Flyover and will come on NH-24.
People traveling to and from ISBT, railway stations, and airports are advised to carefully plan their travel with considerable time in hand. The Delhi Traffic Police, in their post on X, requested the commuters to cooperate by avoiding/bypassing the mentioned roads. Maximum use of public transport was also emphasised.
