Delhi experienced its coldest night of the season so far, with the minimum temperature dropping to 7.1 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted light rain in the city on Sunday. 

Friday night’s minimum temperature was three degrees below the seasonal average, while Saturday’s maximum temperature reached 25.4 degrees Celsius, as per the IMD. 

The season’s second-lowest temperature of 8.5 degrees Celsius was recorded on both Thursday and Friday nights. 

For Sunday, the IMD forecasts the maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 24 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Delhi AQI levels

After a brief improvement of three days, Delhi’s air quality worsened again, falling into the ‘poor’ category on Saturday. At 4 pm, the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 233, a decline from Friday’s 197, which had been classified as ‘moderate’.

Out of the 38 air quality monitoring stations in the city, two reported air quality in the ‘very poor’ category on Saturday, while 30 stations recorded ‘poor’ air quality, and the remaining stations showed ‘moderate’ levels, according to the Sameer app. 

The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi forecasts that the city’s air quality will likely stay in the ‘poor’ category on Sunday and Monday, with a further deterioration to ‘very poor’ expected on Tuesday.

According to the IMD, temperatures are expected to gradually drop to 6 degrees Celsius by December 10, with the maximum temperature hovering around 24 degrees Celsius.
