The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and adjoining areas has invoked Stage-I actions of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) following a significant dip in air quality across Delhi-NCR. This comes after the AQI in Delhi was recorded at 211 on 14th October 2025, placing it in the ‘Poor’ category.

Stage-I Actions Triggered Across NCR

In a meeting of the Sub-Committee on GRAP held on Monday, officials reviewed the air quality situation, along with forecasts provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and IITM. The committee noted that the AQI is expected to remain in the ‘Poor’ category in the coming days. Based on this, the Sub-Committee decided to implement all actions under Stage-I (Poor Air Quality) of the GRAP schedule with immediate effect.

Officials stressed that “Actions under Stage-1 of the extant GRAP shall be implemented, monitored and reviewed by all the agencies concerned in the entire NCR to ensure that the AQI levels do not slip further.” Citizens have been urged to strictly adhere to the citizen charter under GRAP Stage-1.

Agencies to Intensify Measures and Monitor Air Quality

The Sub-Committee has instructed all implementing agencies to maintain a strict vigil and intensify measures as per the GRAP schedule. The CAQM will continue to monitor the air quality closely and make further decisions based on real-time AQI readings and IMD/IITM forecasts. Authorities emphasised the need for active citizen cooperation to prevent further deterioration of air quality in the region.
