Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi Marlena is contesting from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency in the upcoming Delhi Assembly election, which is due on February 5. Atishi’s financial assets have grown by Rs 17.14 lakh since the last Assembly election in 2020, when she declared a net worth of Rs 59.79 lakh.

In her affidavit submitted to the Election Commission of India, she declared movable assets worth over Rs 76 lakh. The total value declared stands at Rs 76,93,374. Delhi’s third woman Chief Minister, Atishi, who succeeded Arvind Kejriwal after his resignation in September last year, declared that she does not own a car or house.

Her movable assets include Rs 30,000 in cash, gold jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh, and approximately Rs 75 lakh held in bank accounts as fixed deposits and savings. The affidavit also confirmed that Atishi does not own any immovable property. In the 2020 polls, she similarly declared that she did not own a car, house, or other immovable assets.

Her income for the financial year 2023-24 stood at Rs 9,62,860, up from Rs 4,72,680 in 2022-23.

The affidavit also clarified details regarding Atishi’s surname. While the AAP leader has dropped her surname “Marlena” from all her social media accounts, her name remains Atishi Marlena in the affidavit.

The CM declared her source of income as “salary” in her affidavit. Her highest educational qualification is a Master of Science degree from the University of Oxford, which she completed in 2006.

Atishi also disclosed that a criminal defamation case is pending against her, though she has not been convicted of any criminal offence.

She filed her nomination for the upcoming polls from the Kalkaji seat on Tuesday at the district magistrate’s office in Lajpat Nagar. Atishi will compete against BJP candidate Ramesh Singh Bidhuri and Congress candidate Alka Lamba.

Elections to the 70-member Delhi Assembly will take place on February 5, with results to be announced on February 8.
