Delhi Assembly Election Results 2013, 2015, 2020: The much-anticipated Delhi Assembly election results will be declared today, deciding whether Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will secure a fourth consecutive term or if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will reclaim power in the national capital after nearly three decades. Counting of votes is underway across all 70 constituencies.

If we look at the exit polls, most of them have projected an edge for the BJP over the ruling AAP. If the projections hold true, the BJP is expected to win between 45 to 55 seats, while AAP could face substantial losses. Meanwhile, the Congress, which failed to secure a single seat in the last two elections, is expected to gain marginally, possibly winning just one seat.

A look at 2013, 2015 and 2020 poll results

Since its emergence, AAP has dominated Delhi’s political scene. In the 2013 Assembly elections, BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 31 seats, falling short of the required majority. AAP secured 28 seats, while Congress won eight. In a dramatic turn, AAP and Congress formed an alliance, leading to the formation of a short-lived government that lasted only 49 days before the imposition of President’s Rule.

AAP made history in the 2015 elections, winning an overwhelming 67 out of 70 seats. The BJP secured only three, while Congress failed to win any. In 2020, AAP repeated its stellar performance, securing 62 seats, while the BJP improved slightly to eight. Congress, once a dominant party in the national capital, remained seatless.
