A Delhi court on Monday accepted the closure report filed by the Delhi Police in a sexual harassment case against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, involving a wrestler who was a minor at the time of the alleged incident.

“Cancellation accepted,” ruled Additional Sessions Judge Gomti Manocha, effectively closing the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case against Singh.

The case drew widespread public attention last year, especially following the wrestler’s testimony during an in-chamber hearing in August 2023. The girl stated she was satisfied with the police investigation and had no objection to the closure report.

The Delhi Police had submitted the closure report on June 15, 2023, after the minor’s father admitted to filing a false complaint against Singh as a means of retaliation for perceived unfair treatment of his daughter.

The police concluded there was “no corroborative evidence” to support the allegations under the POCSO Act, which mandates a minimum sentence of three years for offenders, depending on the charges.

While Singh has now been cleared in the minor’s case, he continues to face charges of sexual harassment and stalking in a separate case filed by six other women wrestlers. He has consistently denied all allegations.
