Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday vowed to take action against those responsible for the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, which killed 13 people. Speaking from Thimphu during his two-day visit to Bhutan, PM Modi said that all those involved in the attack would face justice. He added that the tragic incident in Delhi had deeply saddened the nation and that he shared the pain of the affected families, assuring them that the entire country stands with them in this difficult time.

“Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice,” the PM said. He also shared that he had been in touch with all the federal agencies since Monday night’s attack.

Amit Shah chairs high-level meeting

Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meet at his residence in Delhi on Tuesday, which was attended by Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Delhi Police Commissioner, and Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir also joined the meeting virtually.  Shah had also visited the blast site on Monday and met the victims at the LNJP hospital.

Earlier, President Murmu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had also expressed their condolences and assured a swift probe by the investigative agencies. Speaking at the Delhi Defence Dialogue, Singh said the findings of the probe will be made public soon, ANI reported.

‘Jaish link’ at play

At least five people, including four doctors, have been detained from J&K’s Pulwama for questioning in the attack, according to the Indian Express. The suspects have been linked to the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), according to Delhi police sources.

The Jaish module appears to be the same as the one busted by the police earlier in Faridabad, with police sources claiming that a man named Umar Nabi was the suspected attacker.

Umar was involved of the recently uncovered JeM terror operation in Haryana’s Faridabad, wherein authorities found around 2,900 kg of explosives and weapons at a rented accommodation.

A few Jaish posters were also spotted in J&K’s Srinagar and Nowgam last month, reports claimed.

Preliminary probe has indicated that there is a plan for large-scale attacks, potentially targeting Delhi and other northern regions, which could be orchestrated by terrorists under JeM’s guidance.
