The Congress party will kick off its much-awaited ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan’ on January 3, 2025, spanning across blocks, districts, and states. The campaign will culminate in a public rally at Mhow, Dr. B R Ambedkar’s birthplace, on January 26, marking the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution and the establishment of the Republic of India.
Originally scheduled for December 27, the launch was postponed due to the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on December 26, with a seven-day mourning period declared in his honour. The decision to reschedule the campaign was taken during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held on the same day.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh expressed that the launch had been suspended for a week out of “deep respect” for Singh. “It will take more time to get used to the fact that he is no longer with us,” Ramesh said. He further announced that the campaign would resume on January 3, leading up to the Mhow rally on January 26.
In line with the CWC’s resolution, the Congress has pledged its “fierce commitment” to preserving the Constitution and the principles of the Indian Independence Movement. The resolution highlighted the importance of protecting the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and the Constitution, noting that the movement would continue beyond January 26.
In addition to the rallies and marches across the country, the Congress will also launch a “massive” nationwide public outreach campaign, the Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra, set to take place from January 26, 2025, to January 26, 2026. The padayatra will travel from village to village and township to township, with participation from Congress leaders.
The Congress also plans to hold an All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Gujarat in the first half of April 2025, further emphasising its commitment to the protection of India’s constitutional values.
