hinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is expected to visit India next week for high-level talks with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, according to a report by News18.

Focus on Boundary Talks

Wang and Doval serve as the special representatives of China and India, respectively, tasked with addressing long-standing boundary issues between the two nations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to travel to China later this month to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. This will mark his first visit to China since the 2020 Galwan clashes.

Signs of Thaw in Bilateral Relations

The anticipated visit comes amid an apparent easing of tensions between Beijing and New Delhi following de-escalation in certain border sectors. Both sides have signalled a willingness to improve relations, particularly as US President Donald Trump has warned of steep tariffs targeting Asian economies.

In 2024, PM Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, a meeting that observers viewed as a step toward stabilising ties.

In another sign of warming relations, India and China are set to resume direct passenger flights as early as next month, Bloomberg reported. This would be the first such resumption since flight suspensions began during the COVID-19 pandemic.
