YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the Chandrababu Naidu-led state government of demolishing the under-construction central office of the opposition party in Tadepalli, Guntur district, in defiance of court orders.
According to Reddy, the demolition took place early Saturday morning despite the High Court’s directive to halt any such actions.
The demolition started around 5:30 am, following their legal challenge to the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA)’s preliminary actions, according to a YSRCP statement.
“Chandrababu took vendetta politics to the next level. Like a dictator, he got YSRCP’s central office demolished with excavators and bulldozers, which was almost complete,” said Reddy in a post on ‘X’.
“The demolition proceeded even though the YSRCP had approached the High Court the previous day (Friday), challenging the preliminary actions of the CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority),” said the statement.
The YSRCP alleged that the CRDA proceeded with the demolition despite being informed of the court’s order by a party lawyer, which they argue amounts to contempt of court.
Reddy criticized the NDA government, comprising TDP, BJP, and Janasena, accusing it of disregarding justice and the rule of law in Andhra Pradesh and warned of a tumultuous governance under Naidu’s leadership for the next five years based on this action.
The YSRCP chief said that the opposition party will not be intimidated by these vendetta politics. He promised that the party will fight for the people.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA government secured a total of 21 seats. The TDP won 16 seats, while its allies, the BJP and JSP, secured eight and two seats, respectively.
Simultaneously held state Assembly elections resulted in the TDP winning a majority with 136 seats. The JSP and BJP obtained 21 and eight seats, respectively. In contrast, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), led by Jagan Mohan Reddy, secured only 11 seats, a significant decline from the 151 seats it held in 2019.
