Delhi, Noida Police Issue Traffic Advisories Ahead of Farmers’ Protest: The farmers’ protest march is anticipated to begin on Tuesday at 10 am from Punjab and Haryana. Borders of the national capital have been fortified with heavy deployment of security. The Delhi Traffic Police and the Police Commissionerate of Gautam Buddh Nagar have released traffic advisories amid the call for farmers’ protest in Delhi. 

The Delhi Police and Noida Police will intensively carry out checking, barriers have also been installed on all borders connecting Gautam Buddha Nagar to Delhi. The advisory aims at managing vehicle movement amidst the protests.

Traffic Diversion Routes

To manage traffic disruptions, alternative routes have been proposed for border crossings. Vehicles will be redirected through specific paths, utilizing flyovers and alternative highways, to alleviate congestion and ensure seamless traffic flow into Delhi.

Chilla Border to Delhi: Via Sector 14A flyover, Golchakkar Chowk Sector 15, Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk, Jhundpura Chowk.

DND Border to Delhi: Utilize Filmcity flyover, Sector 18.

Kalindi Border to Delhi: Route through Sector 37 via Mahamaya Ply Over.

Yamuna Expressway to Delhi: Exit at Jewar Toll towards Khurja, then via Jahangirpur.

Sirsa, Parichowk to Delhi: Divert through Dadri, Dasna instead of Sirsa.

Emergency vehicles directed to safe destinations during diversions.

Security Measures in Place

Delhi’s security has been increased with layers of barricades, concrete blocks, and other obstacles at border points to deter the entry of farmers participating in the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march. Police and paramilitary forces outfitted with anti-riot gear, deployed extensively at Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur borders.

Implementation of Section 144

Unrest is anticipated given the farmers’ march towards Delhi which has prompted the Delhi Police to impose Section 144 of the CrPC which prohibits assembly of five or more people and processions. A traffic advisory has also been released, delineating routes for interstate buses, heavy goods vehicles, cars, and light goods vehicles bound for Sonipat, Panipat, and Karnal.

Farmers’ Demands and March Plans

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have declared their plan to march towards Delhi to press the government for addressing their demands, including the enactment of a law ensuring Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. Despite talks with Union ministers, farmers remain resolute in commencing their march early on Tuesday.

Farmers’ Demands Persist

Amidst continuing discussions between farm leaders and government representatives, unresolved key demands persist, including the legal guarantee for MSP, implementation of Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations, and withdrawal of cases against protesters. Farmers maintain steadfastness in their pursuit of justice for victims of prior incidents and compensation for affected families.
