The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, as reported by Odisha TV. The allegations have been made on the irregularities in the institution’s recruitment process. The operation went on for around five hours and it was conducted within the Academic Block of the hospital.
Probe on fake documents
The CBI nine-member team investigated 27 individuals, including the permanent staff members, and took crucial documents related to the recruitment process in custody. According to the Sambad English report, the investigation has been done based on the allegation that five members of a single family have acquired permanent positions. Three of them as record clerks and two as sanitary inspectors have been recruited by using fake documents from Gorakhpur and Ghaziabad.
Initially, they were hired on a contract basis via an outsourcing agency but were later made permanent employees, allegedly by not following standard recruitment rules. Reports indicate that AIIMS Bhubaneswar may have been involved in the practice of hiring contractual employees and eventually regularising their positions. This issue has raised questions about the transparency and fairness of institutions in conducting the hiring process.
The CBI’s investigation objective is to probe the alleged recruitment scam extent and find out all the individuals who have been involved in this. As the investigation progresses, the authorities have not released an official statement regarding the same.
