After the Congress party’s loss in the Haryana Assembly elections, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) criticized the party, claiming that its “guarantee card” had lost credibility after making what it called “empty” promises in Karnataka and Telangana.

“You can deceive some people for a while, but it’s evident now that Congress can’t deceive everyone indefinitely. Voters have firmly rejected the Congress, which bases its politics on falsehoods. This shows, once again, that only regional parties have the power to challenge the BJP, not Congress,” stated K.T. Rama Rao, BRS working president and former Telangana minister.

K.T. Rama Rao, son of former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, remarked that in states where Congress directly faces the BJP, it’s the BJP that typically emerges victorious. He noted that Congress tried to mislead the people of Haryana with its ‘Seven Guarantees,’ after offering similar ‘Five Guarantees’ in Karnataka and ‘Six Guarantees’ in Telangana.

Rama Rao added that the people of Haryana delivered a strong rejection to Congress. He further accused the party of failing to deliver on its promises in Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh, where it holds power, labeling this as “fraud.”

He argued that Congress’s “guarantee card” became worthless after the elections, stating that voters in Telangana and Karnataka now fully understand the emptiness of the party’s promises, as well as the betrayal by the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh.

Rama Rao predicted that upcoming elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Delhi would offer little hope for either Congress or the BJP, and that neither party would secure a clear majority in the 2029 general elections. He suggested that strong regional parties would play a decisive role in shaping the next central government.

Offering advice to Rahul Gandhi, Rama Rao said the Congress leader should learn from the defeat in Haryana, adding that “when actions don’t align with words, such humiliating outcomes are inevitable.”
