Delhi set to record 11th severe air day in November

As of Saturday morning, Delhi’s air quality persists in the “severe” category, and monitoring agencies are anticipating relief with the arrival of a western disturbance that could enhance meteorological conditions starting Sunday. If the average air quality index remains above the 400-mark throughout the day, it would mark the 11th day of severe air quality in November for Delhi. Last year, Delhi had only three severe air quality days in November, while 2021 saw 12 such days, the highest for the month since monitoring began by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Chinese military holds training drills near Myanmar border

China’s military will begin “combat training activities” from Saturday on its side of the border with Myanmar, it said on social media, a day after a convoy of trucks carrying goods into the neighbouring Southeast Asian nation went up in flames. The incident, which Myanmar state media called an insurgent attack, came amid insecurity concerns in China, whose envoy met top officials in Myanmar’s capital for talks on border stability after recent signs of rare strain in their ties. Victims in Niagara Falls border bridge crash identified as Western New York couple

The two people killed when their car crashed into a border checkpoint in Niagara Falls and exploded in a fiery wreck were identified on Friday as a western New York husband and wife whose family owns a lumber business and several hardware stores in the Buffalo area. The Niagara Falls Police Department named the couple as Kurt P Villani and Monica Villani, both 53, of Grand Island, New York, a leafy Buffalo suburb close to the falls. (AP)
