Several schools in Delhi received bomb threats via phone calls on Saturday morning, prompting immediate evacuations and security checks. The schools that reported threats included Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Krishna Model Public School and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya. Police teams and bomb disposal squads rushed to each site and conducted thorough searches.
At DPS Dwarka, the management announced that the school would remain closed for the day due to “unavoidable circumstances.” This also led to the postponement of mid-term exams that were scheduled for Saturday.
Circular to parents
In a message to parents, DPS Dwarka stated: “Dear Parents, kindly note that the school will remain closed today, Saturday, 20 September 2025, due to unavoidable circumstances. All school buses and private vans/cabs are being sent back immediately. Parents are requested to be at the stops to pick up their children. Parents of private commuters must come to pick up their wards if they have dropped them at school. Mid-term exams scheduled for today are postponed. Fresh dates will be shared shortly.”
Police confirmed that all students and staff from the affected schools were safely evacuated.
Pattern of threats in Delhi
This incident comes amid a series of similar hoax threats targeting schools and colleges in the capital. On September 9, the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) in New Delhi received a bomb threat via email, leading to a precautionary evacuation. The Bomb Disposal Squad later confirmed the premises were safe.
On the same day, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) and the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat also received email threats. Delhi Police said the email sent to the MAMC dean hinted at possible explosives but did not provide specific details. DCP Nidhin Valsan said, “A bomb squad was later dispatched to the site as a precaution.”
Police take every threat seriously
While the recent threats have so far turned out to be hoaxes, police noted that each call is being taken seriously. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of these threats and prevent any future incidents.
