The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring to “eliminate” former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that one of the people involved in an alleged attack on his car is closely linked to BJP leader Parvesh Verma, who is contesting against Kejriwal in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.

This accusation follows a claim by AAP that stones were thrown at Kejriwal’s car on Saturday evening while he was campaigning in the New Delhi constituency. The incident has raised concerns over the security of the AAP chief.

In response to the AAP’s allegations, Parvesh Verma denied any involvement, asserting that the car had struck three youths who were protesting against Kejriwal. He further claimed that Kejriwal had instructed his driver to run over the protesters.

At a press conference on Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, alongside AAP MP Sanjay Singh, accused the BJP of orchestrating the attack. “The people who threw stones at Arvind Kejriwal’s car are serious offenders with criminal records, including cases of robbery and attempted murder,” Atishi said.

Atishi identified one of the alleged attackers as Rahul, also known as Shanky, and claimed he is “frequently seen” with Parvesh Verma. “This individual has multiple criminal cases against him and was involved in the attack. They are trying to eliminate Arvind Kejriwal,” she added.

Sanjay Singh further criticised the BJP, saying, “Unable to defeat us in the elections, they are resorting to such tactics to remove Arvind Kejriwal from the scene.”

The incident has intensified the political rivalry as Delhi heads into assembly elections on February 5, with AAP seeking a third consecutive term and BJP aiming to return to power after over 25 years. The results will be announced on February 8.
