Bengaluru police have arrested a 25 year old software professional, Shubhanshu Shukla on shouting pro-Pakistan slogans amid India-Pakistan conflict from his paying guest accommodation. The incident took place on May 9 around 12:30 am.

Techie raises slogans

Shubhanshu Shukla comes from Chhattisgarh and has worked at a private firm in southeast Bengaluru for the past 1 year. Allegedly, he stood on the second-floor balcony of his PG accommodation in Prashant Layout.

Another PG resident from a building across the street quickly came to his terrace and recorded a video of the whole incident, before calling the police helpline of 112 and sharing the footage with officers, according to a police official. The video caputred Shukla raising the slogan in the final instance, but allegedly he raised it for three times.

Booked under sections

The Police have booked him under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 152 (acts endangering sovereignty and unity of India), 197(1)(d) (statements against national integration), and 353(1) (statements causing public mischief).

According to an investigator, Shukla has said he had shouted the slogans impulsively, without any intention to cause harm.
To verify his claims, a forensic lab is analysing the video and comparing his voice sample. Authorities also tested his blood for alcohol or drug influence. Following initial judicial custody, Shukla is now back in custody after police interrogation. This incident is the second arrest in Bengaluru this week, following the arrest of Nawaz for threatening to bomb Prime Minister Modi’s residence.
