A 29-year-old woman was found stored in a refrigerator at a residence in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval on Saturday. The victim had been chopped into over 20 pieces, The Indian Express reported.

The police revealed that the victim, 29-year-old Mahalakshmi, was a native of Nelamangala, near Bengaluru. Her husband has been identified as Hemant Das. Mahalakshmi was living alone in Bengaluru at the time.

Authorities suspect that the murder occurred around 15 days ago, with the dismembered remains stored in a 165-litre refrigerator.

The murder was discovered after neighbors reported a foul smell, prompting the deceased’s family to come and check.

The Vyalikaval police have launched an investigation, with a police officer stating that the woman is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old.
