A Jaipur-bound IndiGo flight was delayed by over an hour, not due to a technical glitch, but because of a group of bees. The situation was so bad that a fire engine was called in to disperse them. The incident took place yesterday, July 7.

The flight 6E-784 took off from Surat after a delay of one hour at 5:26 pm. It was originally scheduled for departure at 4:20 pm. The flight landed in Jaipur at 6:31 pm.

A video of the incident, which was taken from inside the flight by one of the passengers, has since gone viral on social media. The video opens to show a swarm of bees settled near the aircraft’s open luggage door. As the video goes on, one can see a fire engine approaching the aircraft. The video then shows the fire engine using water to drive the bees away.

All passengers had boarded the flight when the incident occurred, while the baggage was still being loaded.

“Flight 6E-784 Surat-Jaipur was delayed due to a minor bee incident. The flight departed post-clearance. Standard protocols were followed. All passengers remained safe and unharmed,” an IndiGo spokesperson told FinancialExpress.com.

Indore-Raipur IndiGo flight took a U-turn

In a separate incident, an IndiGo flight from Indore to Raipur was forced to return to the airport shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue, PTI reported. The flight, operating as 6E-7295, was carrying 51 passengers when the pilot detected the fault after covering approximately 60 nautical miles, according to Vipinkant Seth, director of Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport.

The aircraft had taken off around 6:35 am on Tuesday. Within minutes, the pilot alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and made the decision to turn back for technical reasons. Although the aircraft landed safely, Seth clarified that it was not an “emergency landing.” He did not disclose further details about the nature of the technical issue.
