A day after the Enforcement Directorate issued fresh summons to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren asking him to join probe in a money laundering case, the CM went on an “unplanned visit” to Delhi, triggering political buzz. This is the 10th summons issued to the CM.
Soren travelled to Delhi on Saturday night.
“The visit was not planned. The sudden plan was made after the issuance of a fresh summons by the ED. He has his scheduled events lined up, including a programme in Chaibasa on January 29, in Palamu on January 30, and in Giridih on January 31,” an official, who did not wish to be named, said, as quoted by PTI.
The case pertains to illegal possession and sale of an Army land in Ranchi, in which, IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan is also an accused. The ED is questioning the CM on the ownership of the piece of land.
The ED has asked Soren to confirm his availability for questioning on either January 29 or January 31. The central agency had asked Soren to join the probe on any date between January 27-31, but since there has been no official response, it had issued fresh summons to him.
