The Enforcement Directorate officials have arrested Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh in the Delhi liquor policy case. The arrest comes hours after the ED carried out searches at Singh’s Delhi residence earlier in morning. Shortly afetr Singh’s arrest, Delhi BJP chief Virendraa Sachdeva posted a video. In his video message, Sachdeva said that ‘it is just matter of time and after Sanjay Singh, it’s turn of Arvind Kejriwal.’ He also said that when Dinesh Arora turned approver, it was very clear that the AAP leader would face action.
Security has been beefed up around Singh’s Delhi home. The ED officials said that apart from the 51-year-old lawmaker, his staff were also being questioned. Singh is facing the ED heat over the charges of alleged kickbacks received during the formulation of the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22. The Aam Aadmi Party has strongly rejected the allegations.
Following the apprehension of AAP MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi remarked, “It appears to have been a carefully orchestrated plan, where the ED officials went to his residence, remained there for 8 hours, and then executed the arrest. This incident reflects the BJP’s increasing desperation. The Prime Minister is well aware that whether it pertains to the forthcoming elections in four states or the 2024 elections, the public has made up their minds to dislodge the BJP government…”
Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav asserts that following the recent incident involving journalists, today’s arrest of Sanjay Singh is seen as part of a pattern where the BJP tends to create challenges and take actions against regional parties that are performing well.
