Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain, recently released from Tihar jail after 18 months in custody for a money laundering case, expressed that his future political responsibilities will be determined by the party and its convener, Arvind Kejriwal.
Jain was granted bail by the Rouse Avenue court on Friday afternoon. Speaking to PTI Videos upon his release, he stated, “I will do whatever our party and Arvind Kejriwal say,” emphasizing his commitment to the AAP’s direction.
The former Delhi Health Minister, who was one of the prominent figures in Kejriwal’s cabinet, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in May 2022. He criticized the current political climate, claiming that “atrocity is being done,” and likened it to a return to British rule. Jain urged for governments to focus on public service rather than obstructing each other’s work, particularly targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He further alleged that his arrest was a deliberate attempt to hinder the AAP government’s initiatives, including the Mohalla Clinics and efforts to clean the Yamuna River. “It is very unfortunate for the country. All parties need to work in unity, and only then can the country progress,” he asserted.
After his release, Jain met with Kejriwal at his residence on Firozshah Road. The AAP convener welcomed Jain back with a post on X, saying, “Welcome back Satyendra!” Jain received a warm reception from fellow party leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh, who were present to greet him outside Tihar jail.
