Two soldiers and two civilian porters, working with the Army, were killed in a terror attack near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir’s Gulmarg sector, according to The Indian Express report.

The attack, which took place on Thursday evening, also left three soldiers injured, as militants targeted an Army convoy near the Nagin post at Bota Pathri, approximately seven kilometers from Gulmarg’s main tourist hub.

The area where the attack occurred is highly sensitive, with civilian movement restricted due to its proximity to the LoC. The Army has confirmed that there was an exchange of fire, though details of the operation are still being gathered, IE reported.

This attack comes just hours after Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha led a Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting in Srinagar to discuss the rising security concerns in the region. The meeting, attended by high-ranking Army, police, paramilitary, and intelligence officers, followed a series of attacks in the Valley over the past week.

Local leaders strongly condemned the attack. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Omar Abdullah expressed his condolences on X and said, “This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms and send my condolences to the loved ones of those who lost their lives.” He also extended prayers for the swift recovery of the injured soldiers.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also denounced the violence, writing, “Shocked and deeply saddened by the militant attack on an Army convoy in Baramulla… I pray for the quick recovery of the injured soldiers.”

This marks the fourth terror attack in the region this week. Just four days ago, seven workers, including a local doctor, were killed by militants in Ganderbal district’s Gagangir, where they were part of a team building the strategic Z-Morh tunnel. The string of violence also includes the fatal shooting of a non-local worker in Shopian on October 18 and the injuring of another teenage worker earlier on Thursday in Tral, south Kashmir.
