Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has introduced a new internal reporting policy, requiring all employees to submit weekly work updates. The initiative, titled “Kya Chal Raha Hai?” (What’s going on?), aims to enhance accountability across the company. As per a CNBC-TV18 report, employees must email a summary of their completed tasks to both their direct managers and a designated company email every week.
The policy is being enforced with strict deadlines, with the first set of reports due immediately after the announcement. Going forward, submissions must be made by Sunday each week, the report stated.
Meanwhile, Ola Electric has initiated a significant round of layoffs as part of its cost-cutting measures. A Bloomberg report revealed that the company is reducing its workforce by more than 1,000 employees and contract workers. The job cuts span multiple departments, including procurement, customer service, charging infrastructure, and fulfilment. This follows a previous downsizing in November 2024, when nearly 500 employees were let go.
Ola, which debuted on the stock market in August 2024, has been facing financial challenges, with its losses rising by 50% in the December 2024 quarter, according to Bloomberg. The latest layoffs account for over a quarter of its 4,000-strong workforce, including contract staff not reflected in public filings.
