Launched in September this year, the government’s new digital platform Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) under the Startup India programme brings key stakeholders of the startup ecosystem under one roof. As a centralized repository for startups looking to connect with investors, mentors, service providers, and government bodies to connect, exchange ideas and grow, BHASKAR aims to enable a seamless network and community of the Indian startup ecosystem.

Currently, over 1.5 lakh startups registered under DPIIT’s Startup India programme can join the BHASKAR initiative using their Startup India login credentials.

However, startups not eligible for Startup India recognition can still register for BHASKAR under the startup category. Each member on the BHASKAR platform has a unique BHASKAR ID assigned to use the platform.

To be eligible for Startup India recognition, a company should not be more than 10 years old from the date of its incorporation. It should be incorporated as a private limited company, a registered partnership firm or a limited liability partnership with an annual turnover not exceeding Rs 100 crore for any of the financial years since its incorporation.

Moreover, the entity should not have been formed by splitting up or reconstructing an already existing business and should work towards the development or improvement of a product, process or service and/or have a scalable business model with high potential for the creation of wealth and employment, according to the details available for the Startup India programme.

However, startups registered with their native state government under its startup policy will have to register on the BHASKAR portal separately to join the startup community.

For members who want to cancel their registration, can contact the portal’s support team or through the ‘contact us’ form available on the Startup India portal.
