The Delhi Traffic Police on Tuesday (March 19) issued a traffic advisory and informed that the Pragati Maidan tunnel will undergo repair and maintenance work during night hours. This will lead to its closure during night hours until April 18, the Delhi Traffic Police said.
Additionally, the tunnel will be closed for the entire day on March 24, March 31, and April 7 for the same reason.
“The repair and maintenance work of tunnels of Pragati Maidan is being carried out by ITPO Project Division, PWD. Due to this, these tunnels will remain closed during night hours from 12 am to 6 am up to April 18. Apart from these, tunnels will remain completely closed on March 24, March 31 and April 7 (three Sundays) for full day,” the advisory said.
Commuters to take alternative routes
Furthermore, Delhi Traffic Police advised the commuters to take alternative routes to reach their destination during these hours and on March 24, March 31, and April 7. The advisory stated that alternative routes that can be used by commuters are – Ring Road, Bhairon Road and Mathura road.
“People who are going towards ISBT/railway stations/airports are advised to carefully plan their travel with sufficient time at hand,” the advisory stated.
Commuters are urged to cooperate by avoiding the roads mentioned above, if feasible, and utilising public transportation to the fullest extent possible, it added.
